Winterwood

The internet server for my computer was down off and on today, so it was a bit of a challenge to use the computer.

We had our first real snowfall of the season today too. We didn't get much--- just a dusting. It was enough I had to scrape and brush my windshield and car windows after work tonight before I could drive home. Ice was already forming on the roads. Younger son, of course, is hoping for a school delay in the morning, but I doubt that it will be forthcoming.

I took these pictures of some brown bushes out front wearing little hats of snow on their dried flower heads.

The combination of the snow and woody stems made me think of the title of the song Winterwood by Don McLean, so I am sharing it with you in this post.

The lyrics really have nothing to do with the snow. The image of winter wood, though, which to me means wood with snow on it, brought to mind this song.
The lyrics are printed below the video if you are like me and like to read along with them as you listen.

Words & Music by Don McLean

No-one can take your place with me,
And time has proven that I'm right.
There's no place I'd rather be,
Than at your place for the night.

No time can pass your sight unseen.
No moment steals away unfound.
Lifetime lived in such a dream,
Floats like a feather to the ground.

(Chorus)
And for the first time I've been seeing
The things I'd never notice, without you.
And for the first time I'm discovering
The things I used to treasure, about you.

The birds like leaves on Winterwood,
Sing hopeful songs on dismal days.
They've learned to live life as they should.
They are at peace with nature's ways.

You are as natural as the night,
And all that springs from you is good.
And the children born beneath your light,
Are like the birds on Winterwood.

(Chorus)
