Sachin, aren't you the OP of this thread. Since you have already read those thousands of posts why ask the question in the first place and then if someone is quoting a source and you are not willing to listen, then ignore the post. Why would you go on and start a fist fight.

She needs her own I-797 showing transfer of the H-4, doesn't she? Whenever I changed companies, all my dependents got I-797s as well, and we had to present these at border to get new I-94s.

I just entered US on my AP. Old one (stamped one) was valid till May 08 09 and I had a renewed AP. The IO asked for both old and new AP. I had only the new one. He said I am supposed to carry both. Then he issued me a stamp valid till dec 30 09 and said am supposed to carry the stamped AP paper along with the stamp all the time. Then I aksed about the expiry validity. He said I have to have a new AP after the AP expiry date on AP not on the passport.
But I heard the otherway at the canada border.

Before I say any thing further, I want to clarify that I am NOT asking for any action but want to point out to a unique Gandhigiri protest idea proposed by one of our members:
On one of the posts rajmehrotra suggested "Something like a mass blood donation drive will garner empathy and publicity in a positive way." This was seconded by another member Gravitation. Not sure what other people think but I personally liked this idea very much.
So please save this idea for future use if others also recommend it.
So you thought that because the flower campaign worked, we should come up with a similar approach.. As IV has suggested, make awareness by meeting your lawmakers , put yourself on youtube, contribute to IV etc. if you really want to campaign. Just giving blood which perhaps would not be donated is insane.

Did the office say that you are granted visa and the passport will be mailed. I know in Mumbai consulate, you can collect the stamped-passport the same evening.
NewDelhi consulate will have an email address, email them and check. otherwise if you are there in the city visit the consulate and enquire.
Just my thoughts.All the best.
THe process has changed the passport are now delivered the next day between 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM. Mumbai consulate no longer delivers the passport the same day of interview.

I thought once your EAD gets approved then you H1 Visa is not longer valid.

Just voted. I didn't file I485 during July'07. This idea is very good and I'm willing to donate and work for this campaign. AP and EAD will be a massive help.

I e-filed both EAD and AP this year and I got both approvals without going for biometrics. This was my first e-filing and all my previous applications were paper based. I only went for biometrics 1 time in Oct 2007. TSC used the photo and FPs from my biometrics appointment for my EAD as I did not mail them any photos. So its not necessary that you will be called for finger printing when you e-file. If they have your photo and FPs digitally stored, they will use them. I assume they would do the same if your PD becomes current.
Also there is no FP for AP. We just have to mail our photos with the print out.

I am actually quite perturbed by this discussion. I feel there is NO need for an "American" accent. As long as your english pronounciation is clear and your grammer is strong, you should have NO problems.
If you have studied in English from Day one, you should feel good about yourself. You have already put in hard work since your childhood and you do not need to be embarassed that your English does not sound like the average American. As long as you do not have a VERY strong accent from whatever country you are from, I see NO reason to "Americanize" our English. If someone is doing it to improve their spoken English then I am all for it. If someone is doing it just to gain "acceptance" then I feel it is wrong. You are who you are. Right now you are NOT an American, you were NOT born here so then why should you talk exactly like an American when you are NOT an American??
Also I am not too happy at this being mentioned as an "Indian" specific issue. Citizens of almost EVERY country have their own accent. Indians, Chinese, Japanese,, Italians, Irish, British, East Europian they ALL have a unique accent. I dont see anyone criticizing the Irish, British or the Australian accents. I see some people in this forum making fun of just the Indian accent, so i thought i should clarify this point.

Good idea Lecter. A bit like remembering to tell your wife how she looks (caution advised) I have no problem with posting comments. I absolutely love to stare at the beautiful images on this site. From my novice perspective, they are just about all in the impressive to brilliant range. I get a lot of inspiration & ideas from you guys. The webmasters stunning sports & concert photography. Paul Popes absolutely knock out, whatever he does stuff. Don & Pressmans outstanding digital darkroom magic (Pressmans Exmoor phots are out of this world) Lecters I WANT TO BE THERE RIGHT NOW! phots. Bob Gleasons super sports images & across the board versatility. I particularly take note of Bobs stuff because I know he hasn't been shooting that long, so his learning curve has been pretty meteoric.

Unfortunately for renewal and replacement EAD you will have to pay the new fee of $340 and yes your EAD will be valid for only one year.
